2021 0928 Transcript 00:00 [Applause] 00:01 there is no planet b 00:03 there is no planet blah blah blah blah 00:05 blah blah blah 00:11 this is not about some expensive 00:13 politically correct green act of bunny 00:15 hugging or blah blah blah 00:19 build back better blah blah blah green 00:22 economy blah blah blah 00:25 net 0x25 00:27 2050 blah blah blah 00:31 net zero by 2050 blah blah blah net zero 00:35 blah blah blah climate neutral blah blah 00:37 blah 00:41 this is all we hear from our so-called 00:44 leaders 00:45 words 00:47 words that sound great 00:50 but so far 00:51 has led to no action 00:55 our hopes and dreams drown in their 00:58 empty words and promises 01:01 of course we need constructive dialogue 01:03 but they've now had 30 years of blah 01:05 blah blah and where has that led us 01:09 over 50 percent of all our co2 emissions 01:12 have occurred since 1990 01:14 and a third since 2005. 01:18 all this while the media is reporting on 01:20 what the leaders say that they are going 01:22 to do instead of what they are actually 01:24 doing 01:26 and then not holding leaders accountable 01:28 for their action or rather inaction 01:31 and don't get me wrong we can still do 01:33 this 01:34 change is not only possible but urgently 01:36 necessary 01:38 right now we are still very much 01:40 speeding in the wrong direction 01:43 2021 is currently projected to 01:45 experience the second highest emission 01:47 rise ever 01:50 only about two percent of government 01:52 recovery spendings have been allocated 01:55 to clean energy measures 01:57 and according to a new report by the un 02:00 global emissions are expected to rise by 02:02 16 by 2030 compared to 2010 levels 02:08 our leaders intentional lack of action 02:11 is a betrayal towards all present and 02:14 future generations 02:17 the people in power cannot claim that 02:19 they are trying 02:20 because they are clearly not 02:23 if this is what they consider to be 02:25 climate action then we don't want it 02:28 they invite cherokee young people to 02:31 meetings like this to pretend that they 02:33 are listening to us 02:35 but they are not 02:36 they are clearly not listening to us 02:39 and they never have just look at the 02:41 numbers 02:43 look at the statistics the emissions are 02:46 still rising 02:47 the science doesn't lie 02:51 but 02:52 of course we can still turn this around 02:55 it is entirely possible it will take 02:57 drastic annual emission cuts unlike 03:00 anything the world has ever seen 03:02 and as we don't have the technological 03:04 solutions that alone can deliver 03:06 anything close to that that means we 03:08 will have to change 03:11 we can no longer let the people in power 03:13 decide what is politically possible or 03:15 not 03:16 we can no longer let the people in power 03:18 decide what hope is 03:21 hope is not passive 03:23 hope is not blah blah blah 03:26 hope 03:27 is telling the truth 03:29 hope is taking action and hope always 03:33 comes from the people 03:44 did you hear me what do we want 03:48 when do we want it 03:50 what do we want 03:53 when do we want it 03:55 the leaders like to say we can do this 03:58 they obviously don't mean it but we do 04:01 we can do this 04:03 i'm absolutely convinced that we can 04:05 but it starts with the people it starts 04:08 with facing the reality of the situation 04:10 as uncomfortable as it may be 04:29 you |
